My name is Peter Kreuser, but many call me PTK. I was born in Milwaukee, WI, raised in Hershey, PA, and now live in Raleigh, NC. I am a recent graduate from N.C. State University where I received a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. I am currently employed at SAS Institute as a Software Developer, where I work on the Financial Management Solution.
At work I program mostly in Java using the Eclipse Rich Client Platform. This platform allows us to develop an application with many views and editors that can be customized by the user, just like the Eclipse IDE. Programming has been something that I have been interested since I was 11, when I started to program in BASIC on 286 machines and on TI-83 calculators, so this job suits me quite well. I really enjoy going each day and learning something new.
In my free time, I enjoy playing video games. I own most of the current consoles because I never want to miss out on a platform specific game. I was a big fan of the Dreamcast, as I thought that the hardware was great, and it had some of my favorite games, such as Jet Grind Radio, Shenmue, Seaman, and many others. I play some PC games, mostly made by Valve, such as the Half-life series, Team Fortress, and others. I also really enjoy games made by Tim Schafer, such as Day of the Tentacle and Grim Fandango.
I enjoy listening to hip-hop music of all kinds. Some of my favorite artists include Clipse, The Foreign Exchange, Ghostface Killah, Kanye West, Kooley High, Little Brother, Lupe Fiasco, Mobb Deep, The Neptunes, Slum Village, and countless other classic and current artists.
I generally like design and art in many forms, including print, street art, and toys. I have collected designer toys for several years, and some of my favorite artists and companies include Michael Lau, KAWS, Bounty Hunter, Maharishi, Toy2R, and Threezero.
I love the process of researching items and finding a great deal, and selling things when I am done with them. I feel that by always hunting for the best price and selling things I don't use, I am able to afford things that I otherwise would not be able to, and that gives me great pleasure.
